This menu shows the most popular periods and rule sets played but members are always discovering new projects in new periods or rule systems. We love it when new members bring fresh inspiration so if you don’t see your favourite game listed, come along and introduce it to us. We’d love to give it a go!

Played mostly in 15mm and 25mm the following are the common rule sets used: ADLG, Command & Colours, SAGA, Hail Caesar, Baron’s War, Strength & Honour, DBA, Infamy Infamy, Lion Rampant, Never Mind the Billhooks

These are played mostly in 15mm and 25mm, although Blucher is usually played in 6mm.

About the League of Ancients
One of Melbourne’s oldest wargames clubs, we are also one of the most welcoming. We meet two Sundays a month at the Caulfield RSL in Elsternwick, Melbourne (see the calendar for exact dates).
Whether you’re interested in historical, fantasy or sci-fi games, on land, sea or air, someone will be able to invite you to join a game. Players of all ages and experience levels are required and you don’t even need to have any models to get started!
The RSL provides a great venue to meet with an excellent restaurant and bar to keep the generals well supplied!

A showcase of 8 different games. Whether it’s stemming the Gothic masses, winning honour as a Samurai or refighting the battle of Hoth there will be something for everyone.

American Civil War Big Battle weekend
28 & 29 March 2026
Join us for two action-packed days fighting a giant Civil War game in 28mm. We will be using Pickett’s Charge rules. The action commences at 10.30am each day.
